MAY 26 2020
Daniel Berglund, Partner at Nordic Capital, has been included in the “Rising Stars of European Private Equity 2020”, an annual list compiled by Financial News and Private Equity News. This is the eighth year running that a member of the Nordic Capital advisory team has been recognised on this list, once again reflecting the quality of the team.
The 25 rising stars on this year’s list stand out for their ability to help shape the future of their firms as the private equity sector emerges from the Covid-19 crisis. Private Equity News also recognises that their eighth annual list reflects the wider trends in private equity towards investing in technology and healthcare, with Daniel Berglund as one of this year’s entrants taking a key role in deals in those sectors.
Daniel joined in 2010 and was promoted to Partner earlier this year. From the outset he established himself as a key member of the investment team focusing on Technology & Payments and Healthcare, two of Nordic Capital’s three focus sectors. Since then, Daniel has been central to Nordic Capital’s move into the HealthTech segment that began with the investment in clinical trials business ERT in 2016. Daniel is also part of the team that advised on the acquisition of pharma software business ArisGlobal and he played a significant role in the bolt on acquisitions and ongoing development of Tech & Payments company Trustly. Daniel was also heavily involved in Nordic’s sale of payments company Bambora to Ingenico for €1.5bn in 2017, one of the largest deals in the sector to date. He currently serves on the boards of ERT, ArisGlobal, Trustly, Cint and Board International.
“I’m very proud that our colleagues are repeatedly recognised for their talent and commitment. Daniel has been a formidable deal generator in two of Nordic Capital’s focus sectors, lately combining the two with his particular focus on HealthTech. He has admirable business skills and is also a very strong representative of our collaborative and team-spirited culture. I would like to express my warmest congratulations to Daniel,” said Kristoffer Melinder, Managing Partner, Nordic Capital Advisors.
Methodology:
Candidates for "Private Equity Rising Stars" are assessed by Financial News and Private Equity News' editorial teams. Having compiled a longlist of almost 100 candidates, the teams conducted extensive research and canvassed a wide range of industry experts to decide on the final 25 rising stars under the age of 40, based in Europe. All were assessed on: achievements to date given their age (including career progression, expertise, performance and achievements in their market particularly in the past 18 months), firepower at their disposal, the stature of their mentors, and potential to reach a position of great influence.
