Nordic Capital wins two awards at the Private Equity Wire European Awards 2025

FEBRUARY 17 2025

Nordic Capital has won two awards at Private Equity Wire European Awards 2025: "Overall Fundraise of the Year: Buyout" for its successful closing of Nordic Capital Evolution II ("Evolution II" or "the Fund") and "ESG Private Capital Fund of the Year".

For more than a decade, Private Equity Wire has recognised excellence in the fields of fundraising, portfolio performance and service provision across Europe, celebrating all those driving innovation, transformation and growth across the private markets landscape. The winners were announced at an event in London on 13 February 2025.

Raised within only four months, Evolution II closed in December 2024 at its hard cap at EUR 2 billion in a first and final close, significantly exceeding its target of EUR 1.4 billion. Evolution II attracted excess demand from its launch and benefited from strong support from its current investor base, with a high re-up rate of over 100% by capital, and significant LP commitments from new investors and geographies. Evolution II is 65% bigger than its predecessor fund, Evolution I, which raised EUR 1.2 billion in three months in 2021. Evolution II is the fourth Nordic Capital fund since 2020 to have benefited from a rapid fundraise, underlining investors’ confidence in Nordic Capital’s long-standing investment model and portfolio performance.

Kristoffer Melinder, Managing Partner, Nordic Capital Advisors, commented:
"We are delighted that Nordic Capital has been recognised for both its commitment to driving sustainable development within its organisation and portfolio and the swift close of Evolution II. The robust demand from both new and existing investors underscores the effectiveness of Nordic Capital's IR team in facilitating a rapid fundraise despite challenging market conditions. It also reflects investor confidence in Nordic Capital's mid-market strategy. These awards are a testament to the strength of the team at Nordic Capital, with its clear focus on business growth and sustainable value creation, helping mid-market companies develop and realise their full potential."

Nordic Capital is dedicated to seeking to foster sustainable growth and drive climate action, both of which are integral to its long-term strategy as a leading investor and active owner. In 2024, Nordic Capital further advanced its climate agenda with the announcement that its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets had been approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), aligning with the 1.5° C pathway outlined in the Paris Agreement.

The Evolution strategy expands Nordic Capital’s winning subsector model and powerful platform to a broader spectrum of lower mid-market companies. Evolution II targets investments predominantly in Northern European companies with an EV of EUR 100 million to EUR 500 million. Similar to its predecessor, the Fund will focus on control buyouts and non-cyclical growth opportunities in Nordic Capital’s focus sectors: Healthcare, Technology & Payments, Financial Services and Services & Industrial Tech. Nordic Capital's flagship funds continue their focus on upper mid-market companies.
