As part of Nordic Capital's commitment to fostering a strong culture and identifying talents, the firm runs an internship programme across its offices.
We caught up with Guido Gnecco, who graduated from the London School of Economics last year and then joined Nordic Capital Advisors' in London in September 2024.
How did you first hear about this internship?
I attended an office visit organised through the LSE Private Equity Society, where I had the chance to meet and interact with people from Nordic Capital’s London office. The event deepened my interest in private equity and left me eager to learn more. Additionally, I came across information about the internship on LinkedIn, which further solidified my decision to apply.
What was the recruitment process like?
The recruitment process started with a case study in the first round. After that, there were several interviews focused on my background and cultural fit assessments. I also had the opportunity to meet Raj Shah, the Head of the London Office, which was a particularly valuable and insightful experience.
What have you thought about your time with Nordic Capital?
It has been an incredible experience for several reasons. Firstly, I have gained a much deeper understanding of private equity. While I had some exposure to the industry during previous internships, this role has given me the opportunity to truly grasp what the industry is all about.
Secondly, it has been a period of significant personal and professional growth. I have developed both hard and soft skills – from mastering financial modelling and running processes to enhancing my ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders. Working alongside experienced professionals at Nordic Capital has been invaluable – I have learned so much from their expertise and guidance.
I have also had the privilege of working on multiple deals, sourcing opportunities, and focusing on the healthcare sector, which has provided me with a rich and diverse experience. Lastly, getting to know the London team has been a highlight – their support and collaboration have made the journey even more rewarding.
How do you see this internship contributing to your future career?
This internship has significantly deepened my understanding of private equity, and the skillset required to be a successful investor. Further, the internship allowed me to gain an insight into the dynamics between various stakeholders within the industry. In June, I will be joining Goldman Sachs, and I am certain that the skills, knowledge, and meaningful relationships that I have built with talented professionals, consultants, and bankers during this internship will serve me well in my new role and beyond.
