Nordic Capital makes “40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Private Equity” list for the fourth consecutive year

APRIL 27 2016

Thomas Vetander, Principal and a member of the Healthcare team at NC Advisory, advisor to the Nordic Capital Funds, is the fourth consecutive person from the NC Advisory organisation to be included on the Private Equity News annual list of "40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Private Equity".

"I am proud that Nordic Capital is represented on this list for the fourth consecutive year. It is a great testament to the international competitiveness and expertise of the NC Advisory team. Thomas has a key role in the healthcare team which is a significant, market leading part of the Nordic Capital Funds' investment strategy," says Kristoffer Melinder, Co-Managing Partner, NC Advisory AB, advisor to the Nordic Capital Funds.

Thomas joined NC Advisory AB in 2006, making substantial contributions from early on in his career. In 2006, he was involved in Nycomed's EUR 4.5 bn add-on acquisition of Altana Pharma, a strategically important add-on that contributed to the company's successful development and ultimately to the record-breaking EUR 9.6 bn sale of Nycomed to Takeda in 2011.

Thomas has also been a significant contributor to Nordic Capital's investment in ConvaTec, a global developer and marketer of ostomy, wound care and hospital products, where he has supported ConvaTec's organic growth as well as several add-on acquisitions. In addition to serving on the Board of ConvaTec, Thomas is a Director on the Boards of Acino, a Swiss pharmaceutical company, and Anicura, a Nordic operator of companion animal hospitals and veterinary clinics. Recently Thomas has been part of Nordic Capital's forthcoming acquisition of ERT, a leading U.S. patient data company, from Genstar Capital.

The Private Equity News "40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Private Equity" distinguishes 40 of the most promising young men and women in the European Private Equity sector. Thomas Vetander is the only Swede whose early on accomplishments in the private equity sector have been recognised by Private Equity News this year. He is also the fourth consecutive person from the NC Advisory organisation to be included on this list. Christof Ratjen, Kim Gulstad and Christian Frick were selected in 2015, 2014 and 2013, respectively.

Footnote: Private Equity News' Methodology:
Over the past three months, Private Equity News ("PEN") has canvassed the market for opinion and has drawn up a longlist of more than 100 potential rising stars. All nominees had to be under 40 years of age on April 25, based in Europe, the Middle East or Africa and working in the private equity industry. Candidates were then assessed by PEN's editorial team on their achievements to date, given their age, firepower at their disposal and their potential to reach a position of great influence. The longlist was then whittled down to the final 40 listed here. The list is not ranked, and is fee-free. The list is available at www.penews.com and www.efinancialnews.com.
