One of Sweden’s most pressing social challenges is gang-related crime, particularly in vulnerable areas. Inkludera recognises the vital role that trusted, grassroots organisations play in protecting children from destructive forces. Despite their hands-on impact, many of these local actors lack the funding, tools, and networks needed to scale their work – while funders and policymakers seek effective solutions but struggle to reach these frontline efforts.
Inkludera bridges this gap, connecting local initiatives with the resources and partnerships necessary for long-term impact.
Through our collaboration, Nordic Capital supports Inkludera’s work in, for example, Flemingsberg with the initiative “Området”, founded by Cemil Karahan. Området began as a martial arts club but now provides a safe environment and meaningful activities for children at risk of being drawn into crime. Our partnership aims to increase the number of positive adult interactions these children experience, offering supportive mentorship, a sense of safety, and opportunities to develop skills for the future.
Since 2011, Inkludera has helped local social innovations grow and achieve financial sustainability, partnering with organisations such as Maskrosbarn, Kompis Sverige, and Läxhjälpen. Together, we work to professionalise these initiatives and package their unique methods into solutions that can be implemented by municipalities. To date, Inkludera’s work has contributed to over 1,000 agreements with more than 125 Swedish municipalities.
Together with Inkludera, Nordic Capital is proud to help scale effective, community-driven solutions that create brighter futures for children across Sweden.
